"Coco Twig Window
Shade"
We created this window treatment for a European Country kitchen
redo that we did on The Christopher Lowell Show. It has
a wonderfully rustic, yet sophisticated look, and the touch of
Tuscan Cloth Fabric (which is designed in Lucca, Italy)
adds an authentic flavor to the piece. And, best of all, not only
does it look great, it is VERY easy to do.

1. |
Decide
which width Coco Twig Runner
works for your window treatment.
(we use the Coco Twig Table Runner). |
|
2. |
Measure
the length of your window, add 8
to that length and cut Coco Twig
Runner. |
|
3. |
Remove
2 of cocoa twigs (leaving
the abaca twine) from the cut bottom
of Coco Twig Runner, and
set twigs aside. Tie off the coco
twigs with the runners abaca
twine to keep the bottom twigs in
place. |
| 4. |
To
create top casing, fold 3
to the backside and securely tie
with "Cinnamon Abaca
Twine at sides and in two or
three laces along the middle area. |
| 5. |
To
make the fabric tie, double the
length of your window, add 10,
and then cut a strip of Figaro
Tuscan Fabric Cloth that long,
and 6 wide. (you can piece
the length together, if necessary,
positioning your seam on the back
of finished shade). |
| 6. |
Fold
in half, lengthwise, putting right
sides together, and either sew of
hot glue the seams, leaving an area
to turn the fabric, press and finish
closing the open area. |
| 7. |
Find
the middle of the fabric tie and
hot glue this center to the top
center of Coco Twig Runner,
allowing half the length of the
tie to fall down either side of
the runner. |
| 8. |
Roll
Coco Twig Runner up a few
rolls (whatever you like) and slip
both ends of the ties, from the
back, forward into the center of
a small grapevine napkin ring, making
a loop. Tuck several of the set
aside coco twigs through the back
of the loop, and tighten down your
ties, holding your new Coco Twig
Shade in place. |
| 9. |
Put
a rod through the top casing and
hang your Coco Twig Shade
up, for a very European Country
kitchen look! |
| 10. |
Enjoy! |

|
1. |
Your
Coco Twig Shade can be
raised and lowered, but it must
be done by loosening up the tie,
rolling the shade to the desired
position, then re-tighting the
tie. Therefore, it is best used
on a window that does not need
to have frequent up &
downs. |
|
2. |
If
you can find a great looking natural
branch for your curtain rod,
that will add to the ambiance! |
