1. |
Using
scissors, cut and remove strands
of the rattan, and rough the fiber
up a bit. |
| 2. |
Put about
1/2 cup Spackle into a dish and
mix in sand a bit at a time until
it is as "gritty" as you want. (more
sand makes the mixture stiffer).
|
| 3. |
Apply
the mixture to the jug, heavy in
some spots, just a smear in others. |
| 4. |
While
mixture is still wet, embed Red
Barnacles, bits of Reindeer
Moss and Black Lichen
into the mixture. Hot glue can be
used for a bit of extra "stick"
if needed. |
| 5. |
Using
your paint brush (or a sponge) drizzle
watered down paint on the spackled
spots to create an aged look. Let
the paints run together in places.
Do the same to some of the Reindeer
Moss and Black Lichen
to help them take on the look of
crusty corals, etc.
Leave some of the mixture in shades
of gray and white for contrast.
|
| 6. |
Do a
light smear of mix on the Black
Rock Crab, add a few small barnacles
and a pinch of Reindeer Moss
or Black Lichen, and let
him clamber over the top of your
Jug. |
| 7. |
Let everything
dry, then find the perfect place
for it, like sitting next to a great
piece of driftwood, or nestled into
a pile of seashells. |
| 8. |
Enjoy! |
|
|
 |
|
| 1. |
Keep
the lid on the unused Spackle
to prevent drying out, then make
more mix as needed. |
| 2. |
You may
want to make a few different textures
of your mix, using different types
in different areas. |
| 3. |
Although sand is available in most home improvement
stores, it can be hard to come
by in small quantities, (unless
you live near a beach) so we include
it in your Kit. |
